I am an immigrant.
I fled war-torn Iran with my family to seek a better life in the San Fernando Valley. We were lucky, but as a child I had no options. My parents made the decision for me.
800,000 children were brought to the United States by their parents and are currently protected by DACA. These children know no other home but the United States. They attend our colleges and universities. They are a part of our workforce. They are a vital part of what makes America a great, diverse nation.
Rescinding DACA is wrong. I call on President Trump to spare the Dreamers this wrongful punishment. Our President should instead demand that Congress pass smart, comprehensive immigration reform.
The seeds for bipartisan agreement are there. Speaker Paul Ryan, Senator Orrin Hatch, Florida Governor Rick Scott, and Senator Jeff Flake have all come out against repealing DACA.
Let us keep America great and remind the world that we still stand on the just side of human history.
