How to Help Families in Need This Holiday Season

Dear Neighbor,

In the spirit of the holiday season, our office is once again hosting a Toy Drive benefiting families in need in our community.

To participate, please drop off a new, unwrapped toy (or several!) at the West Valley Food Pantry on December 14th. Please note that this is a drive-thru event and COVID-19 safety protocols will be enforced. Toys will be distributed at a later date to families in need.

Grants for Valley Nonprofits - Apply Now!

Over the past several months, I’ve been fighting hard to bring desperately needed assistance to workers and small businesses in our community.

As part of that effort, we have secured additional funding for the California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Program. Nonprofit cultural institutions that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic can apply for grants of up to $25,000.

The deadline to apply is this Wednesday, September 8, at 11:59 pm.

Help with Rent and Utilities Available Now

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused major challenges for both renters and landlords in our community. Thankfully, I’ve been able to work with my colleagues in the State Legislature to extend eviction protections through September 30, 2021. We’ve also allocated billions of dollars in rent relief to help renters and landlords who need financial assistance.

Get Your COVID-19 Vaccine

Dear Neighbor,

Starting today, all Californians 16 and older are eligible for a COVID-19 vaccination. Getting vaccinated is an easy (and free) way to protect yourself and your family and help put the pandemic behind us.

What to Do

You can book an appointment by visiting the state’s official vaccine website at MyTurn.

Help Families in Need This Thursday

Friends,

2020 has been a difficult year, but our Contactless Toy Drive will make the holidays brighter for families in need in our community.

Logistics

To participate, please drop off a new, unwrapped toy (or several!) this Thursday from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the West Valley Food Pantry.

To keep everyone as safe as possible, please place the toy(s) in the trunk of your car. This will allow our team to facilitate a safe and contactless drop-off.

Helping Families in Need This Holiday Season

Dear Neighbor,

In most years, we look forward to gathering with friends and neighbors for our office’s annual Holiday Open House. This year, due to public health orders and the surge of COVID-19 cases in California, we’ve decided to re-imagine the event. While we’ll forgo many of the usual festivities, we can still help families in need.

Drive-Thru Holiday Open House & Toy Drive

Please join me on December 10 for a special Drive-Thru Holiday Open House & Toy Drive.

You are invited to safely meet with my staff and me to discuss state and local issues and celebrate the important work of the West Valley Food Pantry, our 2020 Nonprofit of the Year. In the spirit of the holiday season, we will be collecting new, unwrapped toys to deliver to families in need.

For everyone’s safety, masks and physical distancing will be required.

Important Election Information

Friends,

I hope you and your loved ones are staying healthy and safe during this difficult time.

I’m writing to share information about the 2020 election and to urge you to make your voice heard at this important moment for our state and nation. As you may have heard, voting is already underway for the 2020 election, and the State Legislature has made some changes to the process so that everyone can vote safely and securely during the COVID-19 pandemic.
