Helping Families in Need This Holiday Season

Dear Neighbor,

In most years, we look forward to gathering with friends and neighbors for our office’s annual Holiday Open House. This year, due to public health orders and the surge of COVID-19 cases in California, we’ve decided to re-imagine the event. While we’ll forgo many of the usual festivities, we can still help families in need.

Drive-Thru Holiday Open House & Toy Drive

Please join me on December 10 for a special Drive-Thru Holiday Open House & Toy Drive.

You are invited to safely meet with my staff and me to discuss state and local issues and celebrate the important work of the West Valley Food Pantry, our 2020 Nonprofit of the Year. In the spirit of the holiday season, we will be collecting new, unwrapped toys to deliver to families in need.

For everyone’s safety, masks and physical distancing will be required.

Important Election Information

Friends,

I hope you and your loved ones are staying healthy and safe during this difficult time.

I’m writing to share information about the 2020 election and to urge you to make your voice heard at this important moment for our state and nation. As you may have heard, voting is already underway for the 2020 election, and the State Legislature has made some changes to the process so that everyone can vote safely and securely during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Legislative Update

Friends-

I hope this note finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy.

I am writing to provide an update from Sacramento on the State Budget and our legislative efforts. Earlier this week, Governor Newsom signed the 2020 State Budget. I am proud that our office fought to protect vital funding for education, health care, and social services for our most vulnerable residents.

I am also happy to share that our office has passed five bills through the State Assembly, all with bipartisan support. These measures include:

Next Steps for Reopening our Economy

Friends,

As we begin to reopen our economy, the State of California needs your input. That is why we’re asking you to take a few minutes to complete the California Recovery Roadmap Survey. The responses will help guide state policymakers as we consider the best way to safely reopen different types of businesses and sectors of our economy.

COVID-19 Virtual Town Hall

Friends,

How do we move forward from here?

What can we expect over the next few months?

How will we know when it’s safe to open up our schools and businesses?

Tomorrow, April 29, from 4 - 5 p.m., I’ll be hosting a Virtual Town Hall to address these and other questions about the path forward with COVID-19. I’ll be joined by three expert panelists:
